My journey into the world of picture framing started unexpectedly. Around 1996, fresh out of high school and pursuing my passion for art, I walked into a local frame shop to order a frame for one of my paintings. A few weeks later, when I stopped by to check on my order, the owner surprised me—not with my finished frame, but with a job offer.
That moment changed the direction of my life.
I started learning the craft from the ground up, building frames, assembling artwork, and discovering the skill and care that goes into preserving the things people value most. Before long, I became the shop’s full-time framer, developing my skills in custom matting, conservation framing, and the art of presenting artwork beautifully.
In the early 2000s, the growth of giclée printing opened a whole new world of possibilities. I taught myself Adobe Photoshop and began creating high-quality fine art reproductions for local artists. Printing became another way to combine my love of art, technology, and craftsmanship.
A few years later, my wife Tahny and I took a leap of faith and purchased a small frame shop in a coastal town. We loved the adventure, but we soon realized it wasn’t the right fit for our growing family. We returned home to Vermont, where I continued framing and printing—eventually purchasing the shop where I had learned so much and moving it to our Main Street location, where we continue to serve our customers today.
Over the years, what started as my passion became a family journey. Tahny has become an essential part of the business, and together we continue to build something we are proud to share with others. Our family has grown alongside the shop, and we believe that same care and personal connection should be reflected in every piece of artwork that leaves our hands.
Today, Dan the Frame Man combines decades of hands-on experience with modern printing technology and traditional craftsmanship. We specialize in custom matting, professional picture framing, fine art printing, and helping artists, photographers, and families preserve the pieces that matter most.
Whether it’s a family photograph, a favorite piece of artwork, a treasured memory, or something you created yourself, our goal is simple: to help you present it in a way that honors its story.
When we’re not in the shop, our family enjoys exploring Vermont and beyond through hiking, road trips, photography, and outdoor adventures. I continue to paint, photograph, and create videos—always looking for the next story to capture, one frame at a time.
Thank you for taking the time to learn our story. We look forward to being part of yours!
