Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Printing

How do I place an order?

Choose the product you need, select your size and options, then upload your image during checkout. Once your order is received, we'll review everything before production begins.

If we notice anything that could affect the final result—such as image quality, cropping, orientation, or sizing—we'll contact you before printing.

Will someone review my image?

Yes! Every image is personally reviewed before it's printed.

We'll check for things like:

  • Image quality and resolution
  • Correct proportions for your selected size
  • Cropping issues
  • Orientation
  • Potential print quality concerns

If something doesn't look right, we'll reach out before we print.

Do you offer design help?

Yes.

Basic adjustments such as cropping, resizing, brightness, contrast, and minor color corrections are included whenever possible.

Minor personalization is also available (adding names, dates, sayings, etc...).

If your project requires extensive editing or graphic design work, we'll provide a quote before any work begins.

Image Files

What kind of image should I upload?

For the best results, upload the highest-resolution image you have.

Original files from your phone or camera usually produce much better prints than screenshots or images downloaded from social media.

If you're using an iPhone, choose Actual Size when sending your photo whenever possible.

We accept: jpg, tiff, png, pdf among other image file types.

What if my image isn't the right size?

Don't worry—we'll check it before printing.

If your image doesn't match the proportions of the size you ordered, we'll explain your options before production begins. Depending on the image, we may be able to:

  • Crop it
  • Add borders
  • Print it at a slightly different size
  • Stretch it (only when appropriate)

Nothing is done without your approval.

Can you make a blurry photo look better?

Sometimes.

We can improve many images using professional editing software and AI upscaling tools. Results depend on the original image quality.

If we believe the print won't meet our quality standards, we'll let you know before printing.

Printing

What kind of paper do you use?

We use both premium and archival papers designed for vibrant color, sharp detail, and long-lasting prints.

Our inks are professional pigment inks that produce rich colors and excellent fade resistance.

How long will my print last?

When displayed indoors and away from direct sunlight, our archival materials are designed to last for 200 years.

Using UV-protective glass or acrylic can further extend the life of your artwork.

Can you print odd sizes?

Yes.

Since every order is custom made, we can print many sizes beyond standard frame dimensions.

If you're unsure what size you need, just ask.

To order a custom size, simply select the size your print will fit into, then include a note with  your order to let us know what size you would like.

Can you print panoramic photos?

Absolutely.

We can produce panoramic prints in a wide variety of custom sizes.

Custom Mats

What kind of matboard do you use?

We use conservation-quality, acid-free, lignin-free matboard designed to help protect your artwork over time.

Can you cut custom openings?

Yes.

We specialize in fully custom matboards, including:

  • Single openings
  • Double mats
  • Multiple openings
  • Collage layouts
  • Sports jerseys
  • Military medals
  • Memorabilia
  • Odd-shaped openings
  • Specialty projects

If you can imagine it, there's a good chance we can create it.

Will my artwork fit?

We'll review the dimensions you provide and contact you if anything appears unusual.

For custom projects, we're always happy to answer questions before you order.

Custom Frames

Do you build custom frames?

Yes.

Every frame is built specifically for your order using quality materials and professional framing techniques.

Do you use glass or acrylic?

For many larger pieces, we recommend acrylic because it's lighter, safer to ship, and offers excellent clarity.

Small pieces usually ship with regular glass installed

We also offer Conservation and Museum glass options.

Will my artwork arrive ready to hang?

Yes.

Completed framed pieces include hanging hardware installed whenever appropriate.

Shipping

How long will my order take?

Most orders are completed within our posted processing time.

Because every item is custom made, turnaround may vary depending on the complexity of your order.

How is my artwork packaged?

We take packaging seriously.

Prints, mats, and framed artwork are carefully packaged using materials designed to protect them during shipping.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible and include photos of:

  • The packaging
  • The shipping label
  • The damaged item

We'll work with you to resolve the issue quickly.

Can I return a custom order?

Because each item is made specifically for you, custom orders generally cannot be returned.

Why choose Dan the Frame Man?

We're more than an online print shop—we're also a professional custom frame shop. That means we don't just think about how your image will look when it's printed; we think about how it will look displayed on your wall for years to come.

Every image is personally reviewed before production. If we notice a problem—such as low resolution, incorrect proportions, or anything else that could affect the final result—we'll contact you before we print it.
